Direct access to beach. Beautiful sight.

Lot of taxi boat traffic in front of beach generates a lot of noise all the time. Poor/slow service at front desk for check-in.

    Very good

Location (out of party town). Views.

    No AC. Overpriced.

  • 6.6
    Good

Beautiful views from room. Free Thai food testing and beach BBQ on an evening. Private beach. Eco friendly resort. Friendly staff.

Lack of air conditioning. Long treacherous walk to rooms through jungle. Poor drainage in sinks and toilets.

  • 6.2
    Good

Charming location (small private beach/creak, away from the now bustling village of kpp, surrounded by jungle)

Noise level (longtail boats, roosters, party animals, staff)

  • 5.0
    Guest rating

Nature Not in the centre --> less noise from longtail boats Good to rent a canoe for a day and discover the island

Tourist-rip-off in terms of: --> 3,5% extra if you pay with credit card (maybe this is standard on Phi Phi, but I havae seen that nowhere else during my stay in Thailand). In my case, I had no other choice than paying, as they do not have any atm around and they insist on payment on arrival --> this is not indicated on Booked.net!! --> Taxi boat only to pick you up on the first day for free. The return costs you 200B extra --> bathroom only cleaned on arrival, after that it's your business --> for a relatively expensive price, this is a no-go --> our bungalow was at the very end of the "resort" and I had to carry 2x20kg luggage on my shoulder through the woods (10-15min one way) --> there are NO real paved ways but only tribal basic jungle ways --> never again, if I would get a bungalow as far from the reception as ours

    Exceptional

Viking Resort is a little bit of heaven on Phi Phi which is other wise mainly a noisy party resort which is fine for those that like that kind of holiday. Viking Resort is truly at one with nature and if you can afford to stay in a bamboo Villa, its worth every penny which we did. We had a luxury double on the first night and that is very cozy with an outside bathroom. Everything is pretty much environmentally friendly too which includes the coconut based toiletries in your bamboo hut!! The staff are FANTASTIC, very friendly and could not do enough. Even though we were dropped on the next beach [Long Beach] the staff then deftly carried our bags across whilst we learned to climb across the rocks. This resort is really an adventure and one for those that love something very magical, challenging and different. There is a beautiful private beach. The food is amazing and breakfast wholesome. We loved this resort and it challenged us in lots of ways [I am 53 and my daughter is 32]...I learned to climb in and out of boats and scale the heights of Viking Resort. This resort is a little piece of heaven on Phi Phi and well worth a visit.

You need to be able bodied to walk/climb steep paths and rugged terrain. You need to be prepared to be transferred by long tail boat from Phi Phi pier and you may be dropped off the the neighbouring beach which means you either climbing across rocks or scaling a high pathway into the Resort. Mosquito's are rather brutal so lots of cream and repellent required and a mozzie plug. The sun is also fierce in January so take at least a factor 30 with you and no oil. All these comments are more pieces of advice that what we did not like.

    Good

I absolutely loved the setting of the bungalows amongst the trees and hill side, it offered the best of both worlds - we had a glimpse of the ocean but also the coolness and freshness of the forest together with it`s friendly inhabitants, such as a gecko passing by one evening through our room and one cat going back and forth to mark it`s territory, as it seems he was looking for a mate :). Our room was very nice, clean and rather basic, however what would you need more? The breakfast was rich and tasty (you can choose 4 options from a menu of 6) and the beach was wonderful, though on the smaller side. You can quickly reach Long Beach, which we personally did not find very attractive, but the name does it justice. I would definitely stay there again.

Quite a workout to walk back and forth between the centre of the island and resort (and even reception and our own bungalow), however you get used to it quickly. One other thing, the toilet had some issues here and then by overflowing.

    Superb

It was a truly paradise :) the main private beach is really beautiful, you have an opened restaurant right on the beach,we also loved our room although we didn´t have hot water, but we didn´t mind as it was very hot :) this resort is also closed to the town and you can hear music at nights but this didn´t bother us. Food was very good and they have daily food testing at around 7.00pm

    Very good

although the hotel is a very simple one - no airconditioning (in the standard rooms), no tv - it is in the middle of nature. really one of the best places to go. the small beach next to the hotel has the cleanest water in the area ... very nice.

no airco and very small rooms, but if you book the luxury rooms or the apartments then you have much more.

Great place! Beautiful bungalows, small but adorable private beach, friendly staff, great cuisine. It has all you need, truly like a paradise. Very relaxing place and nature all around. I will definitely come back.

There are no hot showers, but the weather is so warm, that you don't even need it.

The best place to stay in Phi Phi Island a place, full of magic, full of details. I stayed in a big bangalow and is fabulous, the breakfast is great, nice food, the massage place in the beach is a must. If you like the nature and you dont search modern hotels this is the place. The beach is perfect! I tell to all mi friends to go to this place!

    Very good

The place is amazing, real nature like I wanted. Hidden in the forest is the best resort for nature lovers. I loved the bungalows, simple but confortable and well decorated, with a nice balcony with hamock. Is a little bit far from town (15 min) but, for those who like to walk, its still a good location. We also enjoyed the two private beaches and the view is amazing.

We didnt like the fact that we have to pay 100 baths/ person for the resort's taxi boat. Its too expensive for Thailand standarts and the short distance. On the first day they go to the pier to get guests, but on the last day they don't offer that free service again. We don´t think its fair. We didn't like the fact of having to ask for the room to be cleaned and have the towels changed!!! Its a basic service in every hotel (not in Thailand), and the hotel is not so cheap as that. The breakfast is tasty but short... Some of the staff dont speak english (but we found out that is normal here). Some of them are not friendly or helpfull, but the guy who takes orders at breakfast is very friendly. And we didn't like the damned noisy chickens in the morning. We found out that they belong to the staff who live just beyound us.

    Good

Rooms are big and stylish with extensive use of teak. Staff are friendly and the food is good and inexpensive. Unique location amongst the rocks and trees near to a small beach.

You need to be prepared to be bitten - the mosquito nets will not save you. The hotel is within a lush forest with all the attendant wildife. There are no TVs in the rooms which is fine except the lighting is so poor that you cannot read!! Rooms are nice but soundproofing is poor so you can hear everything that is going on next door and, in my case, in the rooms above. Finally, no pool so if this is important this is not the place for you.

Great atmosphere and accommodation in Jungle style resort. Very different to other hotels.

Staff is friendly but sometimes a bit too relaxed. Loud music can be heared until late at night but this is probably everywhere on the island.
